 Margaretta Twp. Fire Department
 

The Margaretta Fire Department is a combination department that employees both full-time paid members and part time Paid-On-Call members. We have eight full-time positions and currently have all eight positions filled. Our authorized department strength is 40 total members. With our eight paid and seventeen Paid-On-Call members our current roster is 25.

We currently have 15 Paid-On-Call openings. These positions are open to anyone that lives within our the district as determined by the Township Trustees, is at least 18 years old, has a valid drivers license, a high school diploma or GED and has no drug or felony convictions.

Paid on call members are paid by the hour for calls that they attend at the current rate of $10.50 / Hr. . Margaretta Township pays for all training and Personal Protective Equipment. The Department offers longevity and activity bonuses. Members are paid for training at $10.50 / Hr. for all in-service department training. Longevity is added to their hourly rate, activity bonuses are paid at the end of the year. It is our goal to reward our members for being on the department long term and for being active.

Paid -On-Call Membership Requirements

State of Ohio     1. 18 years old and out of High School. *
Mandates - *       2. A High School diploma or GED. *
                             3. A valid Ohio Drivers License. *
MTFD                  4. Must complete a 36 Hr. basic fire course. *
Mandates - #      5. Must complete a 130 Hr. EMT course. *
                             6. Must pass a background check for criminal violations. *
                             7. Must pass a basic physical paid for by the Township. *
                             8. Must complete FD Orientation program within 3 months of start date #
                             9. Must attend 40 hours of inservice training annually #
                           10. Will have an interview with department officers. #
                           11. Will serve a six month probationary period or until schooling completed. #

The following is required by the Fire Department of all members:

                         1. Attendance at all emergency calls that you are available for.# (18% min)
                         2. Have a neat personal appearance. No beards allowed. *#
                         3. Be courteous to the public.
                         4. Follow orders to the best of your ability.
                         5. Maintain the privacy of all records or victims information.*#
                         6. Operate all vehicles in a safe manner. *#
                         7. Maintain a professional appearance on all types of calls.

The following is required of all members by the Association:

                         1. Attendance at  business meetings. #
                         2. Attendance at all department fund raisers. #
                         3. Attendance at all special department functions. #

The following is provided by the Township for each member:

                        1. Payment for required schooling. (Cost of school)
                        2. Payment of mileage to attend schooling.
                        3. Payment of required department physical.
                        4. Payment for emergency calls that you attend. ($10.50 to ? / Hr.)
                        5. Payment for drills that you attend. ($10.50/Hr.)
                        6. Longevity pay for years of service.
                        7. Payment into Workers compensation fund. *
                        8. Liability insurance for each member. (General & Medical)
                        9. Supplemental income insurance for each member.
                       10. Payment for special schools that you attend. (Cost of school)
                       11. Protective clothing and radios for each member. *
                       12. Use of department tools and facilities. (Some limitations)
                       13. Bonus incentive program based on attendance. ($125.00 to $600.00)

The following is provided by the Firefighters Association:

                        1. Family picnic in August.
                        2. Christmas Party for members.
                        3. Membership into the NWOVFA and its charity fund.
                        4. Use of physical fitness equipment.
                        5. Payment for baseball and bowling tournaments. (County & NWOVFA)
                        6. Supplemental income if injured in the line of duty.
