The Margaretta Township Trustees met in regular session on July 26, 2007.
Present were Mr. Bias and Mr. Pooch.
Mr. Bias moved, seconded by Mr. Pooch to approve the minutes from the
July 5, 2007, as presented by the Fiscal Officer. Vote: all ayes.
Mr. Bias moved, seconded by Mr. Pooch to approve the minutes from the
July 19, 2007 Issue II meeting as presented by Fiscal Officer, Mary Ann
Lindsley. Vote: all ayes.
Mr. Bias moved, seconded by Mr. Pooch to approve the minutes from the
special meeting on July 23, 2007, regarding a proposed zoning amendment, as
presented by the Fiscal Officer. Vote: all ayes.
Mr. Bias moved, seconded by Mr. Pooch to accept the financial reports
submitted by Fiscal Officer, Mary Ann Lindsley. Vote: all ayes.
Mr. Bias moved, seconded by Mr. Pooch to approve and sign warrant
6790-6858, as presented by the Fiscal Officer for payment. Vote: all ayes.
Mr. Dave Bodi was at the meeting. He asked about the grass and weed
policy and how we were going to handle it. The trustees said for now the
Road Department will be handling any weed issues that pertain to noxious
weeds. The Fire Department will handle any tall grass issues as a safety
issue.
Mrs. Jane Ann Williams gave us a letter of thanks from the Thomas Relief
Corp, thanking us for our help and she said that the corp. is not issuing us
a bill this year. Mrs. Williams said that the wreaths will be in the
Cemetery and at the Veterans Memorial through 9/11/2007. Jane Ann asked
several questions about our parks. She wanted to know about who takes care
of them and also she mentioned the concession stand and she wanted to know
if we get any money from it. She also mentioned the vehicles in the Fire
Department.
The trustees told her that the township takes care of fields and grounds
west of the driveway and that we get a percentage of the take at the
concession stand. The trustees told her that the Chief’s vehicle is the
townships, but that the Chief is on duty 24/7.
Mrs. Williams mentioned an old sign that was on the old township building
and Mary Ann said she’d contact Rebecca Quick Beckstein about the sign.
Tom Johnson gave a zoning update. The Hensley house on Norwood is being
demolished. He also mentioned some of the things the zoning board are
considering changing, including the zoning map.
Chief Keimer gave his report. He mentioned that we will be receiving
$110,000.00 FEMA Grant. This grant is to purchase self contained breathing
apparatus. We will need to contribute 5% of the total toward our project.
The association bought a new used hurst pump.
Mr. Bias moved, seconded by Mr. Pooch to allow Chief Keimer to purchase a
seal for the portable pump for $533, plus shipping. Vote: all ayes.
Our chicken barbeque is this Sunday July 29, 2007.
The county budget commission will be meeting on August 16 & 17, 2007.
We can schedule a time to go if we wish to do that.
