The Margaretta Township Trustees met in regular session on February15, 2007
at 7 p.m. Present were Mr. Bias and Mr. Riesterer. Mr. Pooch was absent.
Mr. Bias moved, seconded by Mr. Riesterer to approve the minutes from the
February 8, 2007 meeting as presented by the Fiscal Officer. Vote: all ayes.
Mr. Bias moved, seconded by Mr. Riesterer to accept the financial report
submitted by the Fiscal Officer. Vote: all ayes.
Mr. Riesterer moved, seconded by Mr. Bias to approve and sign warrants
#6420-#6434, presented for payment by the Fiscal Officer. Vote: all ayes.
Chief Keimer had estimates for the damage done to 142. The left door and
step $1845.26 and the right mirror $144.40. We have a $1000 deductible and
each of these occurrences is considered a separate accident.
There was some discussion about getting some folding beds, blankets and
pillows to keep at the township in case of an emergency.
We had a house fire in Crystal Rock.
Jim Neill had his report. He said that we did clean out some of the
private roads in Crystal Rock during the recent snow storm. Jim mentioned a
section of the revised code that allows for this.
Jim showed the trustees a letter he drew up to send to Ryan Miller
regarding his being put on a leave of absence.
Mr. Neill also mentioned possibly giving the snow plow drivers a rate
increase, since they have not had in one in several years.
Mr. Bias moved, seconded by Mr. Riesterer to raise the pay for part time
snow plow drivers from $9.50/hr to $10.50/hr. effective 1/1/2007. Vote: all
ayes.
Mr. Bias moved, seconded by Mr. Riesterer to remove Ryan Miller from our
list of employees effective 2/7/2007.
Mr. Bud Felske was at the meeting. He wanted to know when we might be
opening the new section of the cemetery, and also if the trustees had
considered putting a drive down to Pfeil Lane.
The trustees said we would like to get everything ready and possibly open
the new section on Memorial Day. There is a possibility of putting in a
drive to Pfeil Lane that could be gated off and used only for funerals.
Mr. Keith Kreager from Crystal Rock was at the meeting. He wanted to
thank the township for the help with the snow removal in Crystal Rock.
Mr. Bias moved, seconded by Mr. Riesterer to go into executive session
with the Fiscal Officer, Road Supervisor and Fire Chief to discuss
personnel. Roll Call Vote: Mr. Bias – yes and Mr. Bias – yes Mr. Pooch -
absent
Mr. Bias moved, seconded by Mr. Riesterer to reconvene into regular
session. Roll Call Vote: Mr. Bias – yes and Mr. Riesterer – yes Mr.
Pooch -absent
Mr. Bias moved, seconded by Mr. Riesterer, to place Assistant Fire Chief
Frank Knerr on administrative leave with pay, effective February 13, 2007.
At this time the trustees ask that the Fire Chief continue his
investigation. It appears Mr. Knerr has been issued a citation by the Ohio
State Highway Patrol after 2 accidents involving a township vehicle.

Mr. Bias mentioned that the contracts for the Park maintenance and the
concession stand were ready. He will get them to the Park Board.
Mr. Bias said that the firefighter’s union contract says that their
sick pay will accumulate at 7.5 hours per pay period and that in order to
cover January we will add an extra hour on the next pay for the union
firefighters.
It was decided to continue this meeting on Sunday February 18, 2007 at 8
a.m.
February 18, 2007
The February 15 meeting continued at 8 am.
Present were Mr. Bias, Mr. Riesterer and Mr. Pooch
Mr. Bias moved, seconded by Mr. Riesterer to pass Resolution 2007-05
placing a Fire levy on the May ballot. Roll Call Vote: Mr. Bias – yea, Mr.
Riesterer – yes and Mr. Pooch – yes.
Mr. Bias will take paperwork to the Board of Elections.
Mr. Riesterer moved, seconded by Mr. Bias to suspend Frank Knerr as the
zoning inspector for Margaretta without pay, effective 2/13/2007 and to
place Tom Johnson into the zoning inspector position at the rate of
$500/month. Vote: all ayes. For February, Frank Knerr will receive $250 and
Tom Johnson will receive $500.
Mr. Bias moved, seconded by Mr. Riesterer to move the March 2007 meeting
to: March 8th and March 22, 2007,
with the March 8th meeting to begin with a public
hearing on the Township’s proposed final appropriations. Vote: all ayes.
Mr. Pooch will contact Pete Schade of the Health
Department to see if he can come at 7:30 p.m. on March 8, 2007.
Mr. Pooch moved, seconded by Mr. Bias to adjourn.
Vote: all ayes.
