Meeting Minutes

 

The Margaretta Township Trustees met in regular session on January 8, 2009 at 7 p.m. Present were Mr. Pooch and Mr. Bias. Mr. Riesterer came after Township Association Meeting.

Mr. Pooch moved, seconded by Mr. Bias to approve the minutes from the December 18, 2008 meeting, and to approve and sign warrants 8267-8342, and also to accept the financial report submitted by the fiscal officer. Vote: all ayes.

Jim Neill gave his road/cemetery report. The Sand Hill Cemetery contracts were discussed. The Homegardner ditch was discussed. Ken Fortney is doing plans for the Homegardner Ditch.

Levy issues were discussed. Besides the new levy for Road we also have a renewal up on our 2.95 for the Fire Dept.

We need to get all wording for upcoming levies and we need to have the auditor do the certification. We would like to have both levies on the May 5, 2009 ballot.

Mr. Pooch moved, seconded by Mr. Bias to increase the opening and closing costs for Sand Hill Cemetery by $25. Vote: all ayes.

Mr. Pooch moved, seconded by Mr. Bias to buy a pole prunner from Bills Sales & Service for a cost of $519.96 for the cemetery vote: all ayes.

Tom Johnson asked about getting key pad locks for our front and back doors at the Fire Department building and also for the back door of the Road Department Building.

It was also brought up that we have no fire alarm system at the Road Department building. We need to check into getting one.

There was a discussion on how to cover for Keith Killingsworth when he takes his paramedic class. We will need to get this in place.

Tom Johnson mentioned that we had sold one of our old computers for $15, after posting it for 10 days.

Mr. Johnson also said that the zoning board needs to get something done with the new zoning book. He said too many things are not in our current book.

Mr. Pooch moved, seconded by Mr. Bias to contract with Hula Construction for the demolition (per contract). Costs to be up to $4300 for Norwood and $5500 for 313 Crystal Rock Road. Vote: all ayes.

Mr. Pooch moved, seconded by Mr. Bias to purchase front and back door key pad locks for the Fire Department building at a cost of $1186.00 and for the back door of the Road Department Building for a cost of $595.00 from Hobbs Lock and Key. Vote: all ayes.

Mr. Pooch moved, seconded by Mr. Bias to take Brenda Ried off probation, effective 1/8/2009. Vote: all ayes.

Mr. Pooch moved, seconded by Mr. Bias to give the following pay increases effective 1/3/2009 (first pay period of 2009): Thomas Jones and Matt Studer will go from $14.94/hr to $15.31/hr. Brenda Ried will go from $10.50/hr to $11.00/hr., James Neill will go from a salary of $50,470.00 to $52,000.00 and Chief Keimer will go from a salary of $57,950.00 to $59,688. Vote: all ayes.

Full Time Firefighters pay will increase per contract: Class A/Medic goes from $13.74 to $14.06/hr to be paid based on 56 hr week. Class B/Medic goes from $13.09 to $13.39/hr paid based on 56 hr week. Class B goes from $12.36/hr to $12.67/hr based on 56 hr week. Call back hours on overtime to be at 1 ½ times hourly rate and ½ time to be at ½ time hourly rate.

Changing meeting dates for February 2009 were discussed. No dates set at this time.

Mr. Riesterer moved, seconded by Mr. Pooch to pay the GIS bill to the County for 2009. Total cost being $2280.80. Vote: all ayes.

Fiscal Officer, Mary Ann Lindsley mentioned that we need to have a back up for doing and getting the pay to her in the absence of Chief Keimer. The trustees feel that the Assistant Fire Chief (Wm. Mohr) should be given this job.

Mary Ann went over unemployment information.

Mr. Riesterer moved, seconded by Mr. Pooch to adjourn. Vote: all ayes.

The meeting was adjourned at 10 p.m.
